Have you noticed that you started to forget? From time to time our memory betrays us without this meaning that something serious is happening to us. Every day we receive a lot of information from various sources. Our brain performs processes to manage them. Over time the memory begins to fade, especially at older ages.
You can always improve your memory by following the tips below.
- Try to memorize information such as phone numbers, important dates or the VAT number.
- Read books, solve crossword puzzles or sudoku, learn a foreign language or something new. This way you sharpen your mind and keep it alert.
- Deal with one thing at a time and stay focused on it. When we undertake many tasks at the same time we are often confused and as a result we can not respond adequately.
- Make your own personal routines that you will follow faithfully every day. This way it is like putting yourself in autopilot.
- Go out and get in touch with other people. Discuss topics that concern you and that you like. It will help reduce your anxiety and depression.
- Connect your memory with something you already know. You can also use images to relate an event.
- Get rid of clutter you don’t need. The clutter of the house often detunes us and distracts us. Organize your things and make to-do lists.
- Do gymnastics. Exercise keeps not only our body prosperous but also our mind.
- Listen to your favorite music and sing. It will improve your mental health and your brain abilities.
- Eat healthy. Choose foods rich in fatty acids such as salmon, walnuts, flaxseed. Fruits and green vegetables should not be missing from your diet. Add pure virgin olive oil to meals and salads.
- Sleep more. It is recommended to sleep 7-8 hours daily. Sleep incorporates new skills into long-term memory.
- Check for possible health problems such as diabetes, depression, high blood pressure, etc. If you notice that memory problems persist and get worse, see your doctor soon.
Keep your mind!
